About Zephyr

Despite the hardship caused by the depression the De Vries yard flourished; the first full decade counted 270 delivered boats, ranging in size from the humble 4.00m to the magnificent 30.00m Iduna. The yard itself was continuously updated and improved. The sheds were increased in size and height, and in 1939 new offices with a stockroom and canteen were added to the premises.

Stage 1

After we got the Zephyr in our Yard we started making a global plan for the exterior. Since the deck and structure above the deck where done by a previous yard we pretty much looked if the lines where ok.

The symmetry was not that good any more unfortunately. So we redid a lot of the lines to make the shape look nice again. We redid the cockpit and designed a new spray-bar and coach roof. We installed new window frames made of solid mahogany. We redid the side sections of the cockpit. There was a new teak deck installed, new aluminium hatches. The entry is redone and therefore we also made a new entry frame from solid mahogany.

New ceilings where fitted inside and we took out all old/new interior because it was completely loose in the boat. We sanded down the complete hull inside to check for damages. The yacht painters did the filling on the roof section and hull outside. We installed a new aluminium swimming platform. We placard the superstructure above deck with solid 8mm mahogany.
